Peta Sutton

Peta Sutton has been a valued member of the Robinson + McGuinness team since 2015.  Peta has worked exclusively in the family law and estates jurisdictions since being admitted as a Solicitor of the ACT Supreme Court in 2017. Peta has been recognised as a Family Law Rising Star in the Australian Capital Territory for 2021 in the prestigious Doyles Guide.

Peta has a keen interest in complex property matters. Peta also has significant experience in parenting matters, consent matters and child support matters.  Peta appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. Peta also undertakes estate planning work, which compliments her family law practice.

Peta is empathetic and seeks to provide support to her clients through their separation, which often is a stressful and emotional time.  She takes the time to listen to her clients and their needs and seeks to provide tailored, realistic and cost-effective advice which is resolution focused.

Peta is hard working, committed and applies a high level of attention to detail to everything she does. She prides herself on being organised, thorough and efficient. Peta has developed strong relationships with clients of the firm throughout her time at R+M.

Peta holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canberra and competed her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice with the College of Law.

Peta is a past Vice-President of the Canberra Region Family Law Professionals Association; a member of the ACT Law Society, the Family Law Section and the Canberra Region Family Law Professionals Association; Peta volunteers at the ACT Law Society Legal Advice Bureau and the Women’s Legal Centre.
